ABOUT THE HOSTS & THIS OLD HOUSE
This house was built around 1910. Through the years it has had many families come and go. My aunt owned this house in the 1970’s. I spent a lot of time here playing with my cousins. I remember running up and down the stairs, which still has the same old pipe handrail. I remember riding bikes with my cousin around this block many times.. I loved this house.
Several years ago I was looking for a home of my own. I drove by this house and there was a “For Sale” sign in the front yard. I was so excited! So I bought the house in early 2015 and the work began.
My husband, Ron said that he would do the renovations for me. We started downstairs with my room, the kitchen, and the living/dining room, then I was able to move in.
Then came the second floor. We renovated the room which is called the Shirley Room which is named after my aunt that lived here. We enlarged the bathroom by adding a tub room along with the shower.
Then we worked on the Marguerite Room named after my mother. We added a bathroom, using the closet for the shower.
Lastly, we finished with the Eloise room named after my aunt. Also adding a bathroom in a renovated closet.
We kept the original wood floors and used the old doors to maintain as much of the character of the house as we could. We found carvings on the floors and windowsills from past families that have shared their lives here. I often meet people who have lived here or know someone who did.
Mari’s House is not hard to find.. the big yellow house on the corner..
I hope that you will enjoy your stay and make memories of your own!
